HI!

Welcome to my portfolio

My name is Amisha. I am a multidisciplinary artist whose practices include painting, sculpture, multimedia installation and digital design.

Born in Oman but raised Indian, I was exposed to a variety of cultures growing up. I would like to believe that this has influenced my works and the way I create.

My father is my inspiration, my biggest hype man and my first art teacher. With his support and encouragement, I've been pursuing the arts even before my first steps.

ART

This project is an homage to my past self, an attempt to recreate and share my love for art with my peers. Through a collaboration with fine artists, musicians, photographers and filmmakers, I delved into action painting. Action painting has proven to be therapeutic for me in the past and has allowed me to enjoy creating art especially when I'm overcome by imposter syndrome. This performance is my way of showing my audience that art need not come from suffering, it can come from a place of joy and happiness too.

MR. SNAKE

As I painstakingly sanded slabs of wood, I found myself forming an undeniable connection to the piece. I named it 'Mr. Snake'. At 1m tall, he stood tall and proud, showing off all his curves. Created for a school assignment as a final sculpture piece, I had felt a mix of emotions. There were times when his development made me feel confident about his final form. And there were times when he would just break apart for reasons that I couldn't understand and delay me by weeks (I almost gave up on him!). A pandemic piece, that I gradually learnt to accept and love, curves and all.

LIFE DRAWING STUDIES

THE SULTANATE

The country I was born and raised in, The Sultanate of Oman, is rich with culture and heritage. The beautiful scenery and the vast history of my birthplace inspired me to create these works.

ACRYLIC POUR

This series of paintings was my kind of therapy. Watching the colours flow, merge and repel each other both comforted me as much as it excited me. I experimented with colours and their relationships with one other. Each artwork represents a mood, a moment, a sound or a feeling.
